Overpriced, pretentious, and not accomodating. The food was tasty, but overly trendy. If I had the option for 2.5 stars, I would have gone with that.
They brought us a bruschetta of garbanzo beans. Not so good. If I had made this at home, I would have deemed it a failure.
They brought us each one slice of bread. No butter, no oil, no nothing. Just plain dry bread with very little flavor. I could buy that at the grocery. I took one bite and did not continue.
One of my dining companions wanted something light and asked if they would make a pasta dish with just butter and cheese. The waiter faltered. I told him we would pay the standard entree price for that simplified dish. He said something like this: "The chef won't do that. Mario says his pasta is perfect. We might take out some of the spice of a dish, but that's about it."
I ordered the gnocchi with roasted figs. This was very good. Incredibly small portion for the price. Another complaint was that the gnocchi seemed to lack character. You know the gnocchi you get at a "real" italian place, with the little fork tine indentations? This looked like it had been squeezed out of a tube in a strip, then chopped into perfectly uniform, tasty, but less charming versions of my favorite italian dish.
The waiter was polite.
Absolutely the very worst dollar I have ever spent in a restaurant. Tiny portions and so expensive they should be ashamed of giving you the bill. Bastianich's mother is known for family style food this was food for food idiots. I was taken there for my birthday and was sorely disappointed. I probably would not have written this except that I saw Joe Bastianich on Iron Chef tonight and he said that if someone charged him 12 dollars for a bean appetizer he would come after them in the kitchen, Well, I should have come after him! Wine was so overpriced that I was in shock. I have eaten at several other celebrity chef places on the strip and always felt that the prices were far for what I received. NOT HERE!!!
B & B Ristorante is a great Italian restaurant. My wife and I ordered several dishes so that we could try the various flavors. Overall the service was great and the food amazing. The pasta dish was the best I have ever had in flavor. The other dishes were also good. The wine selection was great but I did have to ask the waiter as I was not familiar with Italian wines. He suggested a great complimentary wine.
