This istitution is shameful. Not only do they provide shockingly substandard care, they skirt the line of legality to retain patients at all costs. After REPEATED requests to transfer our critically ill parent, the consulting physician did not see/contact the patient on day 1. He called on day 2 saying he "spoke" with the patient and they were feeling "much better" but had no idea their vital signs had not improved from admission. He only called once to the family with a diatribe on the merits of North Metro and why we should leave our parent there. Finally, he reluctantly agreed to request a bed in another hospital and drug his feet... This was so the attending and consulting physicians could BADGER our elderly parent into staying at North Metro. Why? THEY NEED THE REVENUE. SHAME ON THEM. It worked... my elderly parent is seriously ill, receiving substandard care and now tired of the bickering and agreed to stay after the physicians' "used car salesman" pitch. In online search engines, this hospital has HORRIBLE survival rates for critical care patients. At this point, all we can do is pray. If you have an emergency, REFUSE to go to this hospital. Once admitted, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get out, especially for the elderly who are easily badgered. Again, SHAME on them.
In November my 2 year old daughter had a seziure and the ambulance got her stabilized and i wanted them to transport her to childrens but they said they could only take her to north metro i said well where is the decline form because the only way i would end up there is if im unconcisous with no say so i wouldnt dare take my child there i drove her to childrens myself..
I am new to the area so when my son was having severe abdominal pain I took him here, it was the closest place. He was flagged as a code red whaen we checked in, that was at 10am. Saw the doctor at 12:30pm. Had an MRI done and at 3:30pm we were told he would be transferred by ambulance to Childrens Hospital he needed his appendix out and they don't operate on anyone under the age of 18 years old!! By the time my son got to Children's his appendix had started to rupture. Had I known they didn't deal with kids I wouldn't have wasted our precious time there!! He spent a week in the hospital due to the infection. Thank God he is OK now.
