We had just driven 3+ hours into town for a mini vacation and were hungry and tired. We had a GPS so the first place it took us was the closest to where we were. It was a "supper club" that didn't serve supper. Hmmm. We decided to head into town to check out some other options and we came across this place. It was REALLY nice from the outside, looked newer, ample parking. We were welcomed by the bartender and in a small town, that's uncommon unless they know you. You just get a grunt that sounds something like "what can I get you to drink?" Not here! We had a nicely poured drink and ordered from their menu. Our expectations were VERY low because this is an up north type bar and grill, not a "restaurant" (or so we thought). I had a grilled talapia sandwich that was served with fries. My husband had a cheeseburger and fries. Both were served with coleslaw and potato salad. The food was hot, fresh and VERY good quality. We also had an appetizer of white cheese curds (yummylicious) and their made from scratch and TO DIE FOR potato soup. I was so surprised by this place I felt like holding a banner up in the parking lot telling people to come there.
As it turns out, it changed hands recently and was 100% remodeled. They've got several big screen TVs (which came in very handy the following Monday night when the Packers played), a pool table and several gaming machines. They also have a large dining room in back.
As we got to talking, we met the owner and told her we were restaurant owners ourselves but had recently closed our restaurant. She invited us into the kitchen and it was THE CLEANEST KITCHEN I HAVE LITERALLY EVER SEEN. I could have eaten off the floors.
I know times are tough for restaurants with the tough economy so please, if you're in the area, please stop by and have a drink or some food. I know they will appreciate your company!
I wish them the best with the MDA Harley ride this weekend and will DEFINITELY be back when we're back there again!
