On two visits in the winter months I had a chance to stay in the Roxana. It is a beautiful place with a huge property right on the lake. During the months of January and February I stayed twice for really long weekends enjoying a Coach House Room both times. The room I stayed in was one of three similarly arranged rooms and had a kitchen area, it's own bath, shower and this nice cushioned window bench among other expected room features. Some candles around the room and a reading light gave me a great sense of comfort. I could just sit there on the bench surfing the internet and working my files while having this view out across the snow covered lawn toward the lake.

So there was internet access,TV with cable, the room had both DVD&VHS players built into the set. The bed was huge with a thick comforter. Also there was a dining table and four chairs. In one corner an arm chair or the cusioned window seat was available to read or relax in. Without a doubt I know that I will always hope to be able to get a room there when I come to visit the area. Come to think of it, as long as I can get a room there, I don't ever see myself staying at another hotel again in that part of the country. My only regret is not taking my camera along with me inside the main house when I was invited to look around and explore. Maybe I figured to be able to get back soon again and just was amazed to have found a place to stay like this. Even perhaps a bit captivated by the history I discovered in pictures and articles all throughout the home. And though pretty cold that January and February, I did take a few good walks on the frozen lake and take some neat pictures of Roxana from outside. Let me not forget to mention meals there, and have in mind that I had the independance of the kitchen in my room and did use it. But in the mornings I had a paper if I wanted, then a home made breakfast, with all sorts of muffins, biscuits and yes even some pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon. And good coffee! They gave me a breakfast certificate to use at a local restaurant, but are you kidding me I thought as I looked over their dinning room and fixings. I am certain if I wanted, there also could have been a similar dinner setting available. If my memory serves me right I needed to only ask. The main house has equally comfortable looking rooms and a huge upper floor suite. There are pictures of the inside on their web site so if you like, take a peek.
