The great food and unique atmosphere make POPS a favorite for everyone in my family. My husband and I love that we can get all of our favorite, hard to find sodas there. We look for any excuse to make the drive!
You may stop at Pops once just to see the place, but you won't go back again because of the food and attitude.
We stopped by on June 21, 2008, and it was about an hour wait.
Don't order the Chicken POPS Pie, or you'll feel like you've really been ripped off. The menu says, "This POPS spin on a traditional dish features Puffed Pastry smothered with our own Creamy Filling of Savory Chicken and Vegetables."
What we received was nothing like the description. A large soup bowl is filled with white cream sauce with a few vegetables and a little chicken, and then a normal roll is placed on top of the filling.
There is no crust. There is no "puffed pastry" as promised by the menu. The roll wasn't "smothered." One of our party never did find any chicken in her bowl.
The hamburger we ordered was cold when served, but we did love the French fries. (But they are not the crinkle-cut fries listed on the website menu.)
And don't sit on the back porch under the water misting system. We saw one table where their food was covered with mist and even beads of water were in the people's hair. And the staff refused to move the people or to get them replacement food for the wet meals.
The whole attitude we received from the staff was, "We are so busy, we don't have to take care of customers. If you don't come back, so what? We've got lots of others that will take your place."
P.S. The menu on their website (as of July 1, 2008) is old, so they don't keep their website up to date. They used a different menu the day we visited. Prices were higher than shown on their website. For example, Chicken Fried Steak is $9.50, not $8.00 as listed on the website.
