Well, for starters it took nearly an hour to get our lunch. Two of us got our lunch about 10 minutes after the others with no apology or explanation from the waiter. The food was lukewarm. The udon was mediocre. The steak was inconsistant. The rice was hard. The shrimp was cold and chewy. The Philadelphia rolls we got as an appetizer were the worst I have ever had. Target makes a better Philadelphia roll.
We were so disappointed in the service we asked to speak with a manager. The explainations he gave for the delayed food service made no sense. One of the excuses given was the internet being down??? We finally got an apology from the manager and a $10 gift card, but we never plan to use it as we never plan to go there again.
Also, my friend who had the shrimp got sick.
Don't go.
I just experienced Kobe for the first time today, with my 2 children and a friend, who was kind enough to treat us for my birthday. However, before we went there I checked the reviews on this log, and there are a few things I disagree with... We had a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. We had several questions while making the reservation and while ordering. We found the staff to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. My kids really enjoyed the show, our chef was skillful and entertaining. We all thought the food was prepared to our expectations, even just a notch more. I usually eat my steak with pepper and was just about to ask for some until I had a bite of my filet mignon... it was absolutely perfect and didn't need anything to add to it at all. My picky little 10 year old son ordered the chicken and salmon off the adult menu. He ate every bite of it while repeatedly saying it was so awesome. His twin sister had the junior shrimp with a side of noodles (vs. the rice) and never quite got to the shrimp because the noodles were so indulgent. The waitress had also suggested a japenese soda for the kids (which I was mildly skepticle of due to them being so finicky) and they each had 2. It was kinda fun that they got to enjoy something out of the norm. Anyway, as far as the price goes, it was absolutely reasonable compared to other similar restaurants, including ones that don't have the entertainment value. Not to mention the amount of food.. the soup, the salad, the shrimp appetizer. It was really nice, the whole experience was very comfortable and satisfying. I hope that anyboby who's had a poor experience there would give them another try. I am looking forward to visiting this local establishment more often and hope that there are many others who agree to support this nice addition to Plymouth, MN.
ps: Just for the record... I DO work in the restaurant industry and therefore, I have high personal standards. However, I do NOT work for Kobe or anything affiliated.
We go there a lot, and it's better than Benihana! Our family loves it....
