My daughter cracked her white iPod Touch Screen. I read the reviews on this site and decided to have them do the repair. We got it back home and noticed that the screen was different from the original. There was a round, black spot on the top next to the cam. I took it back and they told me it was for the proximity sensor. The iPod Touch doesn't have a proximity sensor! The kid at the counter told me there was nothing more they could do about it. I later spoke to the person who originally took care of the order and explained the problem. He was very nice and said he'd look into it for me and that perhaps they had ordered the wrong part. Later, at home, my daughter noticed that the glass wasn't flush with the edges and you could actually see inside the iPod! Long story short, they will put the proper screen in place if I purchase the part online and bring it in to them. This would be at my expense in addition to what I already paid them. They refuse to take care of it themselves stating that they have fixed the screen as requested. Putting an iPhone screen on our iPod is not what I requested. I offered to give the "fixed" screen back in exchange for a refund so I could have it repaired properly elsewhere and they refused. They did however offer me $10 for my "inconvenience." I guess my next step is legal action. If you care about your iDevice, DO NOT take it to Paulding Networking!
Thank you for your feedback. The small, black dot near the camera is an ambient light sensor, which is found standard on any replacement glass for the iPod touch. Only the original Apple screens do not feature this black dot, and Apple does not sell their parts to any outside company. Our repair is over $70 cheaper than having the iPod replaced at the Apple Store. The small black dot is approximately 2mm wide, and is located to the right of the camera. It does not affect the usage of the iPod and it is not near the visible part of the iPod's screen, so it is a completely cosmetic issue. The two websites you asked us to order a replacement screen from are selling what are likely counterfeit screens. Since we refuse sell you a counterfeit screen, we have offered to do two things for you: 1. We offered to refund the cost of our screen and allow you to order whichever screen you want, and install it at no additional charge, or 2. We offered a refund over 10% of your total repair cost, $10, for the inconvenience of having a black dot that is purely cosmetic, not near the actual screen, and doesn't affect the use of the iPod in any way. For the light around the edge issue, we have already offered to resolve that for you immediately but we have not heard back. Typically, the adhesive around the edges of a screen will not come up unless it has been heated with a heat gun, such as someone trying to remove the screen. In any event, we will be happy to resolve that issue for you.
