My wife and I were referred to Baba Chinese by a local during our stay in Redmond, and we were not disappointed. The garlic green beans are the best either of us has tasted at any restaurant on the west coast we have visited. We were pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of the food.
I liked the chicken dishes. The vegetables are always fresh and the meat is cooked to perfection - never tough or underdone.
We have subsequently taken friends and relatives to Baba's because we like it more than any other restaurant in Redmond, and the prices are very reasonable. You would expect to pay more, and in a bigger city, you will.
The service is good and the waitresses are very friendly. If you like Chinese, don't hesitate to visit Baba's. You won't be disappointed!
Not exactly what I was expecting. Baba means father in chinese so I was expecting to walk into a restaurant that was actually run by a Chinese people.
You walk in and are greeted by white people. I don't know about you, but to me.... I'm a little bit weary of any ethnic food made by Caucasians. Having said this-I am white and my boyfriend is Chinese and I have been spoiled with authentic homemade Chinese food.
Turns out these white kids can cook. I'd say that this has been the best Chinese dining experience in Central Oregon. The portions are huge, displayed beautifully, and the Chinese food tastes exactly like what you'd get in any big city family restaurant. The restaurant is decorated very nicely too, very modern and definitely not what I would have expected from dinky small town Redmond. So. Bravo.
My only complaint is; the cow mein is not served correctly. They serve it Hong Kong style and I prefer traditional style cow mein. I also received this at Cindy's Chinese Food kitchen-exactly the same dish. So someone idk if it's a regional thing or what... whatever it is I don't like it.
The food is fresh, the menu is up-to-date and the service is friendly. It is a small town restaurant with Big City appeal. The decor and atmosphere could use a little polish and glitz.
