Money well spent! The ambiance was nice, although not as inviting as the picture makes it out to be.
This is a Brazillian Style BBq that features an all-you-can eat BBQ service. The waiter, goucho, presents Huge skewers of meat to the diners and each person, tongs in hand, pulls of the meat as he slices it onto your plate. There are several different types of meat presented throughout your dinner and it is appropriate to take small portions in order to try each one. There is a buffet style bar that serves up several different types of Brazillian side dishes which includes salads, specialty olives, different cheeses and crackers and much more.
The fun part of the experience is the wooden "disk" that is painted red on one side, green on the other. When red is on top it indicates to the server (Gaucho)to keep bringing the meat. When it is turned on it's side, it indicates to the server to pass you by. When it is flipped over to red it indicates that you are done. This is a fun way to eat and pretty much the only way to sample 12 or more different kinds of prepared meats in one meal.
It is definately a unique and tasty dining experience. Can't remember how much it was, but it is a flat rate for each diner and you pay extra for drinks and dessert.
Although I didn't think this was the best restaurant in Visalia, it was still a great one. The food was delicious and it was a fun experience as well. The service was also very friendly, which is hard to find in Visalia. I base a huge part of my experience on the service alone. The different meats that were offered were very tender and savory, and pineapple lovers, you must try thier grilled pineapple, it's so sweet and juicy. There was something for everyone's palate. The food bar was also a nice touch for those wanting fish or salad. I don't think I've ever had a salmon from a food bar as good as there's. A must "go to" restaurant in Visalia.
Rio Churrasco is by far the best restaurant in Visalia! The service was amazing, everyone took time getting to know their patrons. The food was completely authentic and delicious! I have been to many Brazilian Restaurants before, and this one is by far the best one ever! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I think because its a smaller restaurant, its more intimate and enjoyable. If you havent eaten there, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!!!!!!!!
