I hope what I have to say will give Bob, the very nice, charismatic owner some insight because my husband and I love the ambiance of this restaurant (including the wonderful music); and the wait-staff is always cordial, cheerful and helpful. We have stopped ordering dinner and pizza at this restaurant; instead just choosing appetizers and drinks; because of the following:
Pizza Experience: Not sure if Bob has a problem keeping a good chef because on Feb. 27, 2009 we met a friend in the bar, shared a large 3-cheese pizza with 'chunks' of good Italian Sausage, cheese was thick and plentiful; crust wasn't overcooked; a fabulous pizza we DEVOURED! Craved a repeat of this pizza; ordered a couple of times afterwards for pick-up, but the pizza was never the same; over-cooked with hardly any cheese, the sausage was ground (instead of chunky)and tossed over the pizza; sauce was almost non-existent and had absolutely no flavor/very disappointing for $19.99. Finally gave up on getting a duplicate of that Feb. 27 pizza!
Dinner experience this year: First my husband and I shared a bowl of the soup for the evening; Shrimp Bisque (first had to send it back to be warmed up). We love a good shrimp bisque! This bisque wasn't smooth and creamy and shrimp flavored - it was puree'd which made it chunky on the palate - not much shrimp flavor; not worth $7.00.
My husband then had the Blackened Salmon - he loves it that way. He received a small plate; not a dinner plate; with a undersized filet of salmon that was grilled; not blackened, and very dry. Salmon should be grilled only until it is moist and succulent inside. I would have sent it back but my husband resists making waves because he 'eats to live'; unlike me 'who lives to eat'! :o} He did not receive a small salad with his meal; has to be ordered ala carte, so he shared mine, which only comes with pasta.
I ordered the Shrimp Scampi. I received a very uninspired presentation of same in a 'soup' bowl with 6-8 overcooked shrimp on top of the pasta/no garnish, but the sauce was good. I don't know about you, but a customer wants to see a little 'bang for their buck'! When a pasta dish is ordered, a dinner plate of pasta vs. a soup bowl of pasta would at least give the customer a bit of psychological satisfaction about paying $22.00+ for a pasta dish! Pasta is not expensive unless the restaurant makes their own of course.
In closing I think the dinner prices are to high considering the portion the customer receives ($18.95 for a small wedge of Lasagna is outrageous). You could almost describe this eating establishment a 'tapas'('small serving' in Spanish) restaurant.
In closing; Bob, people will continue to enjoy Happy Hour at Trivetti's because they love you and Judith's great personalities, but it would behoove your business if you made some changes to the dinner and pizza side of your restaurant.
Took my wife to this resaurant for her birthday and both of us were very unhappy with the meal that we had. We expected much more and will never go in there again.
