Chef Adam Goetz prepares unique items as well as regional favorites, like mini beef on weck and chicken finger subs. Some of the other selections include whipped brie with tomato served on a garlic crostini, as well as British bangers and mash: a pork sausage stuffed with herbs and potatoes. You can even sample some desserts, like a creme brulee trio, or opt for a treat reminiscent of campfire s'mores. They also serve some unique cocktails; sip on a passion fruit margarita and their award-winning lavender martini. - Christine A. Smyczynski

Sample Restaurant is an all hors d'oeuvres restaurant where people can sample many different items from the menu in one sitting. Well, that's what their website says! If only we could have got in to find out.
We called to make a midweek reservation and was told that would not be necessary. When we got there, a surly waiter asked if we had a reservation, and when we told him what we were told, he said he could not accommodate us as the restaurant was full that night. This was at 6pm, and the restaurant was almost empty, and they supposedly do not take reservations. We pointed this out and said we could eat quickly enough for them to turn the table around, but were told in no uncertain terms that wasn't possible, that we were wrong and there was nothing he could do about it.
I am guessing it was because we were from out of town and not regulars, but if this is how they treat customers, then we are glad we didn't get in, and suggest that you don't go in either. They deserve, on the face of that experience, to be empty!
We cam across this restaurant on our annual trip through New York State. We always tour the finger-lake wine region, and then stop in Buffalo for our favourite French restaurant. I would like to see Sample in Zagat or Fodors! Many people may not realize the great food Buffalo has to offer, but Sample ranks with some of the finest restaurants we have sat down in. We are tough critics, favouring San Francisco, New York, and Paris. It may sound a bit off from the typical destination. If you happen to be breezing through Buffalo, we say must stop here. The wait staff was great. We sat down, and let our server suggest. We were not disappointed. The custom cocktails were worthy of a high ranking.
