I do agree on the fact that MGM Foxwoods is not very welcoming. It is a bit sterile and yes the gamming area is pretty small and bit too bright in it's lighting. I have to commend the employees since I did encounter many who were polite and helpful! The guestrooms are beautiful but many people do not like the fact that the bathrooms lack a bathtub, this didn't bother me since I do not soak in bathtubs when I travel. Yes the rooms are small but very elegant with a great comfy bed. I was dissapointed in it's theater since I thought it was badly designed and not very pleasing to the eye. It reminded me of a brand new highschool auditorium. The mezzanine seats are very high up and this has to make it difficult to view the stage. In my opinion the theater seems badly designed. My wife and I were there for the Sarah Brightman concert which proved to be a BIG dissapointment for the reason being that she lacked any charisma/personality and cut the show short and what I gathered from the fans sitting next to me was that this was not the type of show she usually is known to perform. After the strange concert we had a couple of drinks at the bar and kept hearing from concert goers on their dissapointment with the show since they were expecting a large production and not the short set list presented. This really put a damper on our night but at least we did have a good meal at a steak house located in Foxwoods which I should add is a long walk from MGM. Would I go back to this MGM in CT? probably not. My favorite Casino in CT has to be the Mohegan sun since it has such eye appeal and basically livelier in atmosphere
The Exterior is impressive but upon entering MGM Grand Foxwoods we were let down. It is so sterile lacking visual beauty. It resembles and is as stark as an airport terminal. The one game room is small and very bright with it's fluorescent lighting. We were there on weekend to see a Sarah Brightman concert (Nov.22nd) and the casino seemed dead with very few people. I need to mention that the concert was terrible, it was less than an hour long with no visual and theatrical aspect that had been advertised were present. The perfomer seemed as she didnât want to be there and gave a half hearted performance and practically ran off the stage after her 8th song, ( a 45 minutes concert) Pathetic and unprofessional. She didnât seem too pleased since Iâm sure she had no idea that the theater was the size of a school auditorium. Needless to say she could of made an effort! I saw many disappointed faces after the very short performance and heard some nasty comments, people were basically mislead.
I contacted public relations and of course I was given a lame generic excuse that itâs not their fault, and I was not surprised to hear that I wasn't the only complaint. Ticket buyers should have been notified in advance that this was going to be a recital and not the large show that was advertised for this particular artist's tour, but MGM will not take any responsibility at all for their misadvertising. Needless to say from this experience and the unwelcoming aspect of this casino and MGM's attitutde I will never enter it again or recommend it!! Beware!!
Been to Foxwoods many times and decided to visit the new MGM on 8/23/08. Leaving Foxwoods through the interior walkway to the MGM is like you are inside the hallway of a basic Ramada Inn (very plain). Upon entering the casino we asked where the rest of the the casino was (very small compared to Foxwoods)and were told "this is it". Well, we were not impressed! Very plain and nothing fancy. Will stick to Foxwoods and Mohegan.

I'm so glad that others feel the same way. It's so important to mention that customer service, public relations are lacking! They do not respond to email inquiries or return calls. Sterile, Cold and unwelcoming are Great descriptions!!
