Char Modern American Restaurant

Way better now that there are new owners. I tried it again for the first time in a year or so and everything was great- ran into some other friends there that say they go there all the time. We had good food and stayed at the bar for a long time drinking with friends. A great atmosphere.

This was our first visit to Char since under new ownership. The new paint, pics & tables added a funky, modern look but I liked it much better before the renovations. It was a more upscale and intimate atmosphere. Service was okay, but very slow considering there were only a couple other tables. I've enjoyed the crab bisque soup many times. Today, it was really bad! Soup was full of lumps (doughy flour lumps) and lacking flavor. I was worried that my favorite dish, Shrimp and Grits, would also be a disaster. Turns out that it was very good with the shrimp cooked perfectly. The soup was taken off the bill. Will probably wait awhile to decide if I'll go back.

Hello everyone, My name is Colton, and I am the new owner of Char. My sister and I bought Char in late May, 2009. We have made several changes to the menu as well as several staffing changes that we believe will improve the Char experience. We have also made some wonderful ascetic changes using art from local artists. My background in restaurants has primarily been Fine dining with a little corporate mixed in. Alaina, my sister, also has a Fine dining background as well as fantastic bartending experience. With some hard work, and dedication we hope to turn Char into the premier restaurant experience that Boone deserves. I hope that those of you who had a bad experience under the previous ownership, will give us another try.
