I've been here twice and the food was fantastic both times.
Great customer service and very clean. Inside and outside
dining and good blues music always playing. Prices were
reasonable and portions were more than enough to fill you up.
Went here last week. The guy who took my order seemed kind of rude for someone working in customer service, but I figured, well maybe he's just having a bad day. But since he was middle aged , I wondered, could this guy be management? Sure enough, after I ordered and got my receipt, I saw the name of who had taken my order: none other than "Brett" himself.
Strange, but since I've paid, let's give it a shot. So, after a considerable wait, considering how empty the place was, my BBQ pulled chicken and fries arrived.....it wasn't horrible, but awfully bland for a place that's going for a Southern BBQ ambiance. The sweet potato fries were decent, but the sandwich, especially at that price, left a lot to be desired.
Oh well, I gave it a shot....doubt I'll go back.
Fast forward to this week....I'm in the same mini-mall, gonna try the taco shop this time. Since I remember that Brett's had a bathroom up front, and the taco shop doesn't, I make a quick stop to pee there first. About a minute later I walk out, and as I'm walking through the lot, I hear someone behind me say "Excuse me!" I turn around, and see, once again, "Brett", who proceeds to interrogate me on why I used the bathroom, since it's only "for customers". Are you kidding me, you just took my order a few days ago! And it's not like I'm some bum taking a bath in the sink, either, all I did was take a quick leak. You've got nothing better to do than harass people for using your bathroom?
Then again, as in my previous visit, the place was almost empty (at lunchtime), so I guess the answer is no.
"Brett", maybe if you improved your attitude and your mediocre, overpriced food, your place wouldn't be deserted every day. And this guy's the owner! Unbelievable.
By the way, the taco shop was excellent (can't remember the name) Go there, or even the Dairy Queen instead (surprisingly good fries, friendly service).
Unfortunately both our visits to Bretts was around noon and the results were definitely mixed. Sauce great, ambiance (especially the sinks to rid yourself of the sauce) and chicken were delicious. The ribs not so delicious. Not at all juicy, they were dry and I had the impression they had sat too long in the warming area. I love ribs and had hoped Bretts would fill that void since it's barely 5 blocks from our house. Two separate visits with the same result means there won't be a third. Which is a shame since that location needs a good specialty restaurant.
