I took a bus trip recently from Texas to Utah and back. I will say that, by and large, the terminal personnel and the drivers were good employees and good people dedicated to their job. The ultimate failings of Greyhound is in the products; not the people.
The buses are broken down in a great many ways seats that will not stay upright or will not recline, gashes in the seats, and worst of all, air conditioners that did not work.
The stations are disgusting by and large. The one in Las Vegas would probably have it's restroom quarantined by the authorities. The toilet paper roll was tied--true story--to the jamb of the stall by an unopened garbage bag. The stations in Houston and Dallas were almost as bad
MY MOTHER LEFT KNOXVILLE,TN ON A GREYHOUND BUS ON 02/11/10.SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE ON 02/13/10,BUT SHE DID NOT ARRIVE ON THAT DATE!! MY MOTHER DID NOT ARRIVE AT HER DESTINATION UNTIL 02/14/10.THE REASON SHE WAS A DAY LATE WAS BECAUSE WHEN HER BUS STOPPED IN EVANSTON,IN TO PICK UP MORE PASSENGERS THE BUS DRIVER LET A DRUNK GUY ON THE BUS!!!THE DRIVER AND ANOTHER PASSENGER HAD TO HELP THE DRUNK GUY GET ON THE BUS GET ON THE BUS WHICH CAUSED MY MOTHER'S BUS TO BE LATE GETTING TO THE NEXT STOP WHICH WAS ST. LOUIS,MS.THE BUS DRIVER REALIZED THAT HE WAS GOING TO BE LATE GETTING TO ST. LOUIS SO HE CALLED AHEAD TO SEE IF THE BUS THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO TRANSFER TO IN ST. LOUIS WOULD WAIT ON US. NEEDLESS TO SAY,THE BUS WOULD NOT WAIT FOR US IN ST. LOUIS SO MY MOTHER,AND SOME OTHER PASSENGERS,HAD TO WAIT EIGHT HOURS IN THE ST. LOUIS BUS TERMINAL,UNTIL 3:30 A.M. THE NEXT MORNING,BEFORE WE COULD BOARD ANOTHER BUS.WHEN MY MOTHER GOT TO ST. LOUIS SHE WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO RE-ROUTE HER TICKET,ADDING FIVE MORE TRANSFER TO THE FIVE THAT SHE ALREADY HAD!!! WE CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE IN TEXAS AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND HER A $100 TRAVEL VOUCHER AND WE EMAILED THE CORPORATE OFFICE,BUT SO FAR WE HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THEM!!!!! MY MOTHER IS 63 YEARS OLD,HAS A HEART CONDITION AND SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH WHAT SHE DID TO ARRIVE AT HER DESTINATION!! MY MOTHER IS STAYING WITH ME ON THE FORT LEWIS ARMY BASE WHILE MY HUSBAND IS IN IRAQ FOR A YEAR.SHE TAKES CARE OF MY 3 YEAR OLD,HER GRANDSON, WHILE I AM IN SCHOOL.I THINK MY MOTHER SHOULD AT LEAST GET A TRAVEL VOUCHER OUT OF THIS,IF NOTHING ELSE!!!!!
