I didn't understand how such a nicely decorated restaurant could have such mediocre Chinese food and unprofessional service. Then it was explained to me by several parties that Wong's is a cross-border version of the old Shangri La from Juarez, a place that was legendary in the day but has fallen on hard times and an aging clientele.
It seems the snotty and presumptuous upper class Juarenses now live in West El Paso and this is their spot. I noticed the waitstaff being very caterering to several tables while we were practically ignored. If you are a nobody, don't expect good service. But you shouldn't be coming here anyway, because it's bad and severely overpriced.
If you like the old standard Chinese food found in American restaurants in the 1960s, fried with oversalty or oversweet sauces, you may actually like what these guys put on the plate. If you are wanting more modern, Californicated versions, or actual authentic Asian recipies, you will not find it here.
Advice: STAY AWAY!!! You are not welcome and the food ain't that grea anyway.
The food was ok, but way too expensive. The restaurant was very pretty and kinda fancy, but no chinese food should cost that much.
