We made a special trip over to Larchmont Grill from Pasadena for a celebration dinner. The service was outstanding from beginning to end.
I had the Lobster Ravioli and my wife had the Pan Seared Scallops over risotto. Both were extremely good (we shared), and went well with the Ehrhardt chardonnay. We ate early, but the place was packed by the time we left. That makes sense, because Larchmont Grill is an excellent value, which is important with the economy tumbling.
We sat in the charming living room near the fireplace and had a great leisurely dinner sans kids. Besides the entrees, we also split a "deconstructed" caesar salad (unique), a shrimp appetizer that the chef made just for our special occasion (very yummy), and the great dessert, which was a mixed berry cobbler a la mode.
The only problem is that it was hard to drive home afterward because I was so darn full.
If you have not tried Larchmont Grill, I strongly encourage you to make a date and go.
So the LG has become a family favorite. For brunch I am a benedict favorite and at Larchmont you will find some of the best in LA. And for dinner if you like shortribs make a point of smothering yourself with them. Staff is fun and friendly and prices are of good value. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. We were there last weekend and there was not an empty table. That is telling in these economic times. Highly recommended.
Excellent value, comfortable, very good food. Rib eye steak is great. Not trendy but an old house. The bar is comfortable for dinner if solo. Interesting wine list and good specials. "Low key" dining in a nice setting.
