Very average but very expensive. A bowl of very average gumbo with a stale piece of cornbread was 10 bucks. Two bucks for a glass of tea. I wasn't impressed at all.
Heavnly breakfast! On a recent visit I wandered in for a cup of hot tea. I was greated with friendly smiles and presented with a candy jar filled to the brim with every variety of tea bag. I snagged my favorite and settled in for a lovely respite from sightseeing. Two couples at the next table were having and loving steaming plates of waffles and chicken. When asked they recommended it without hesitation. Not hungry that day, I went back to Soul Heaven three more times during my week in Natchez. I missed the waffles and chicken -- next year, I promise, but I didn't miss some of the best beignets I have ever tasted -- better than Cafe du Monde without waiting in line! Less powdered sugar too, but plenty to make them just sweet enough. They were light, fluffy and piping hot. Enough to make your soul sing! And mine did! For you coffee drinkers, yes, Soul Heaven serves Community Coffee and it is good! Next year I try the gumbo too -- my fellow travelers are raving about it so that's on my list too. See you next year Soul Heaven!
Soul Heaven has moved to Pearl St. Food was very good, collard greens were to die for. When u are in Natchez look the place up. It's across the street from the Eola Hotel.
