NO STARS! This person is far beyond "awful." This woman was treating my husband for Alzheimer's. She saw him May 4 2009, and made no notation in his records that she was concerned about him. However, she proceeded to notify the FL DMV that his driver's license should be revoked! We only learned of this almost three months later when we got a letter from the DMV! She did not notify us at all about this decision, and when we called, SHE REFUSED TO TALK WITH US!!!
A person in her office said Tronetti had given my husband a memory test (no mention of it in his records, and when I asked for a copy of it, along with his responses, they refused) and that they "had watched him drive away from their office!" I was told that he parked on the left side of the building, but he would only park on the right side, so as to protect his car. There are no windows on that side of the building, so I told the person that they would have had to stop what they were doing and go outside, which I did not believe happened. The silence told me I was correct.
I called that office nearly every day for weeks. About half way through that time, I was told that Tronetti had changed her mind and notified the DMV that my husband could drive. I asked what criteria she used to make that decision as she had neither seen nor spoken to him in almost four months. There was no response! There has never been any response.
Tronetti knew we travel to KY during the summer, knew he would be driving - yet she did not feel it necessary to advise us of her major decision, thus possibly protecting our lives and the lives of thousands on the road! The day after we got the DMV letter, we went to see his KY doctor, whose exact words were, "This is outrageous! I've never known of a doctor handling anything like this! There is no way you are ready to have your license revoked and I will help you in any way I can to get it back." He did.
I petitioned the DMV - when I explained the situation, the lady there said, "This is crazy! I've never heard of a doctor doing such a thing and being so callous!" Finally, he got another letter, stating he could take his visual, written and driving tests, but they would have to be repeated every six months!
When he took the tests, he passed them so proficiently that the lady there was appalled he was even having to bother with it at all. She told him he did not have to retake the tests FOR THREE YEARS!
Tronetti has made NO attempt whatsoever to rectify this situation, nor will she bother to apologize. She is a disgrace to the medical profession - actually to any profession! While I realize that many DOs are fine professionals, I think she is way above her level of expertise, if indeed, she even has such a level. I would never, ever, ever recommend her to anyone for anything!
Any kind of a true professional would most certainly be decent, humane and civilized enough to at least talk with the patient and/or family of such a decision, which she not only did not do, she absolutely refused to even talk with us after the fact! It seems to me this is a very strange person!
Furthermore, I have since heard nightmarish things she has done to other patients. If you or someone you know are thinking of going to her, please do yourselves a favor and go elsewhere. It could be a matter of life or death!
And for the record, it seems she misdiagnosed my husband, as it appears he was having bad reactions to medication, and does not have Alzheimer's after all. Our lives could have been totally ruined by her stupid actions, and yet, she obviously thinks she is too far superior to her patients to bother informing them about her deeds. She is wrong! She is scary!!!
