I had high expectations for Circle after hearing the chef had been at Rialto in Cambridge. I tried it the other night and it was AMAZING! I was so impressed. The decor was modern and classy--nice atmosphere, with jazz standards playing.
To start, I had heirloom tomatoes to start and my husband had the salad--both sound simple but were amazingly flavorful. I'd heard they used a lot of local and organic ingredients and you could really taste it. For entree I had the butter-poached lobster, which was seriously the most tender lobster I've ever had. It practically melted in my mouth. My husband had the salmon, but I can't report on that because he ate it up so fast I didn't even get a taste!
I was actually full after those two courses, but we wanted to try the desserts, and I'm glad we did. Desserts were also strong; we had two, creme fraiche ice cream and homemade jelly donuts. Honestly, my only regret is that there were a lot of other menu items that sounded delicious and I couldn't try them all.
The bottom line: This is a beautiful restaurant, with great ambiance for an elegant but relaxed evening out, and really superb food. Like I said, I came in with high expectations and they were all exceeded. I will be back for sure.
just opened and i had to try it. when i hear french food, i think super pricey, but so not true here. the menu definitely delivers for the price, a huge lobster dish for $32...you can't get that anywhere! the wine and beer lists are huge, but definitely go for the cocktails...the dowery=yum! the mac n' cheese is to die for and try the terrine de fruits de mer (really delicious mix of shrimp, scallops, monkfish and langostines-- little lobsers
