Reclaiming the Joy of Parenting

My husband and I called “Reclaiming the Joy of Parenting” for help around my daughter’s first public school experience. Our 5 year old was not flourishing in the formal classroom environment and had been screened in for having some learning difficulties. Joy was able to provide us with a solid sounding board and professional recommendations as to how to get my daughter the support she needed in school. She is a keen observer of children! I was feeling completely overwhelmed as a fulltime working mother of a new 3 month old baby boy and a 5 year old daughter. I always felt stressed and guilty that I was not meeting the needs of my 5 year old daughter. Joy helped us get my infant on a solid sleep schedule (sleeping through the night -9 to 10- hours by the time he turned 3 months)! After one telephone consultation with Joy and a two hour home visit, I felt much clearer on what I needed to work on to get my 4 year old son fully potty trained. The support was very helpful, but the clarity I had after she left was incredible! The follow-up phone calls are also very reassuring and keep me focused on the game plan. My confidence is back and that in itself is helping me in other interactions with my son.
