I took my baby cat Buggles for his yearly check up to Oak Elm mostly because it was a new clinic in my neighborhood and wanted to see how their pet care and prices compared to my normal vet.
I should preface everything I'm about to say with I walked into the clinic with an open mind. I didn't have any sort of pre conceived notions of what a clinic should be like or anything regarding the doctor and staff.
I must say I was surprised (in a good way) by almost everything. First of all, the clinic itself was pristine. It was very, very clean - it almost felt like I was at a medical office with how nice everything was. The parking in the rear of the building made it very convenient for me to park and carry my baby Buggles to the front door. I know with some other businesses on Oakton, you have to park right on Oakton St but I liked this much better.
The receptionist greeted me warmly and asked me to fill out some forms - that part I didn't like but it is what it is in this day. Within minutes of me completing the forms, the doctor came into the waiting room and introduced himself to me and baby Buggles. He then led me into one of the examination rooms and spent the next 10 to 15 minutes looking over Buggles, checking his weight, and asking me questions about Buggles' health.
I told the doc that I noticed Buggles' appetite decreasing over the past couple of months. The doctor recommended that I change his food every once in a while and maybe the change will get Buggles excited to eat - makes sense! I know I wouldn't want to eat the same thing everyday. I did try what the doctor recommended when I got home and I'm happy to say baby Buggles is back to eating his normal, good portion sizes. Thanks, doctor! I suppose it's those little tips that a doctor acquires through years of experience that there's no substitution for. I'm sure if I went to a less experienced doctor, he or she would have ordered tests upon tests which would have been, frankly, too much for my budget to absorb at this time.
Thanks, Doctor and the staff at Oak Elm!!!
