I made an appointment to get my hair permed at this salon. My hair type is unusual. Its a mix of fine curly hair and stick straight strands. I showed up with my natural hair air-dried so my stylist can see it on the consult.
I noticed most of the staff are yonger stylists and seemed a bit disorganized.
Well, after waiting for a half an hour after my appointment time the girl that went to do my hair said she was going on a quick break while someone else washed my hair. I was a little disapointed she had no interest to look at my natural hair type dry so she can analyze areas of my hair
.
After that I brought in a detailed pictures of what I wanted: Larger, spiral curls that are loose. I also brought pictures of hair no-nos: tight kinky waves.
I let her know it was my first perm. she told me my hair was to fine for spirals and that she would use another technique and she stated it would give the same results....
Well, I noticed that night that my curls was more like a giant half-fro. I went back and they suggested some product to tame my hair. I was a bit disappointed that they werent thorough with explaining maintenance to s first time permer. like me I found out later that mouse actually worked best. The girl told me that the large waves would not have done well with my hair so she had to go for tighter curls...I thought it would have been nice if she said that in the beginning.
I think It now looks ok. The curls are still much tighter than I originally wanted, and some areas of my do dont curl as well as other parts.
Overall, I call it average, it wasnt a disaster, wasnt exactly what I wanted but it looks ok. she is very careful not to fry the hair.
The cuts I think were pretty good from what I saw. I would recommend cuts more there than perms.
Would I go again? No. Do I regret it? No. Average place with average abilities. Not for people with high expectations
