The food at the Mai Thai is awesome! I eat there so often that I think I am turning Asian!! They also have a lunch buffet six days a week including sushi, giving customers a chance to 'test drive' a variety of dishes for when they go out to dinner. I take all my friends and relatives there for lunch, because I know that no matter how picky they might be, SOMETHING on that buffet will tempt their taste buds.
The fruit on the lunch buffet is so fresh and juicy that it's like an explosion of flavor in the mouth and the cook cuts the fruit so beautifully.
My Favorites:
1.) One of my favorite dishes there for dinner is the Thai Basil Stir Fry with Scallops. I don't even like bell peppers normally, but it was so good that I ate every bite, even the bell peppers!
2.) The Tom Kah Gai soup is a delicious creamy coconut and lemongrass soup with chicken and mushrooms.
3.) The Summer Roll is steamed shrimp, light fried tofu, vermicelli noodles and fresh veggies wrapped in soft rice paper, with the most mouth watering sauces for dipping.
4.) The Fried Bananas are a bite of heaven. I have only seen it once on the lunch buffet (dessert), but it was so delicious and sweet that I almost melted right in my chair!
Service:
The servers and owners there are so attentive (and ultra nice) that I barely finish my soda before I have a fresh glass in front of me.
I eat sushi there so often that they have even 'created' a special roll just for me with sweet eel plus other seafoods and veggies in it. It does not have a name yet, so when I order it, I just say "my special sushi" and they know exactly what I want.
The food there is just so tasty that I just keep coming back for more. I find that Thai food is more spicey and hot than many other Asian foods, but if one does not want the heat, just say so and they can tone it down.
