Niksarli, our medical director, is a board-certified ophthalmologist of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a specialist in LASIK and laser eye surgery. As one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the country, his practice is exclusively dedicated to LASIK and Laser Vision Correction. Since the approval of the Excimer Laser in 1995, he has performed over 30,000 successful LASIK procedures. Besides his MD degree, he is an engineer and computer scientist by training, which makes him an exact and demanding surgeon, in command of an extremely accurate, advanced and safe laser technology.
Having a background as an investigator, I am naturally skeptical. From the initial consultation to the surgery -EVERYTHING TURNED OUT EXCELLENT. Dr. Niksarli even speaks German.
Had the surgery yesterday, and am already at 20/20. I recommend the following steps through the process:
1) Get more than one opinion to confirm your eyes are in good health and your a candidate for lasik. -This is imperative!
2) Do your homework -watch videos on youtube -and read about the procedure.
3) Be comfortable with the doctor and the office staff.
Pre/post surgery:
1) Buy decent sunglasses for day 2
2) Surgery day, don't go alone -you need someone to walk you out of the office and home. -After surgery, you just want to go home and rest immediately. -Things are blurry and feel blah!
3) With all the eye drops to numb your eye, you will only feel slight pressure during the surgery. All the scraping the doctor does, you will not feel at all. Sounds worse than it feels -trust me.
4) Worse part: Prepare for burning sensations on your eyes through the first night. It will be a rough sleep. The next morning, things calm, and vision improvement kicks in -hour by hour on day 2. Your sunglasses come completely handy.
5) Follow all instructions for the eye drops for the following six days.
Day 2 -I even went to work for a few hours.
Complete the above, and your in completely good hands with Dr. Niksarli. (PS -Check out his reviews on Citysearch.com the reviews are very positive, and seemed on target).
