There are two Chinese places in Hurricane.
Panda Buffet is new and clean. Good location. There are 4 panels with food. The vegetables were fresh. Pans were not filled with food, but allowed for more turn overs. Typical Chinese fare - General Tso Chicken, szechuan string beans (good!), chow mein, grilled salmon, walnut shrimp, really tasty pepper shrimp, beef and broccoli (broccoli was green, not tinged with yellow ^_^)...
Good flavors.
Even sushi; but don't expect much. Small, hard rice grains... methinks there was cream cheese in it.
Con: No Chinese veggies - tofu, bok choy... but what do you expect, not near any big city.
There was fresh fruit too, which I found great. Cherries (never seen that before, but nice), good honeydew, watermelon, canteloupe. Typical desserts: almond cookies, lemon cake (?)...
salad too.
Reasonable prices: $9.39 (under 10... a very good thing!). The prices for dishes weren't bad either.
As a new establishment, I wish it luck. I just hope it doesn't go downhill, or start skimping.
I hold off from allocating a 5 Star rating only for the fact that the place is new, and without meaning to sound too skeptical, I am playing it safe for many places loose their shine or quality over time. The food in this place is well above average and it is indicative that competition is good for the community for it doesn't allow the mediocre to reign supreme. We went for dinner and the selections were plentiful and had a wonderful dining experience. It was run by a very competent crew and the hot dishes were all at perfect temperature. For years it has been the case that finding a good Chinese Restaurant, one of quality throughout, was a futile attempt. I am including St. George in the list. I mean there are chinese restaurants but nothing special as compared, let's say, to more gourmet oriented areas of this great nation. So arriving to Panda Buffet I was rapidly impressed by the place. Very nice inside and almost immediately, since it is Buffet fare and I am fast on my feet in this kind of eating, I was delighted by the choices available and very soon after by the taste. I can only wish it remains so, for it is very nice not to have to drive any further than Hurricane when you happen to live in Hurricane. I had Shrimp (very tasty), Beef (this time soft and flavorful), Mussels (I do love them in most cases!), white steamed rice was available, dumplings, and I really could go on and on for I made a "pig" of myself and ate quite a bit. I hope they do well and it is appreciated enough to cause the owners to want to keep the high standards found on our first visit. There were also some desserts. Not many and certainly not the same quality of the food but what more can a person ask. Imagine if they would have the most sinfully delicious desserts? I know for one, my female companion, would probably bankrupt the operation for she seem to have a limitless space in her tummy for sweets. I have seen her in Las Vegas and it is a sight to behold, scary and impressive all at the same time. Panda Buffet, the only game in town for tasty chinese food (tried the competition and sorry but no dice) and here it is to wishing them success and good fortune if they keep their food as good! 4.5 Stars, really.
