Five stars for Pelicano. I have eaten at this fine restaurant over a dozen times and am always looking for an excuse to return. The food is local and fresh, lovingly prepared and served. No heavy sauces, no deep fried, just pure essence - from crisp interesting salads to deep fruit tarts, the menu is full of choices that take some pondering- it all sounds good! The menu changes with the seasons in order to address whatever is freshest in gardens and the sea. Drinks are custom-made - my favorite is the martini, with tiny, wonderful anchovie-stuffed olives. The pot-au-creme never leaves the menu, due to constant demand for this heavenly treat. We're heading back for another dining experience next week and I'm already perusing their on-line menu to think about what would taste best!
A great find in the Astoria and Long Beach area! Fresh food, a creative menu, a nice atmosphere make this an outstanding place for a romantic evening or a special meal. No question this is the best restaurant in the area!
I was so disappointed with Pelicano. It has a great location, and the menu appears great, however the food and service are sub par. We found the wait staff rude, and inattentive. Getting more water was like pulling teeth, and they never came to ask if we wanted to order anything else to drink.
Our food did not come out together- in fact there was about 30 minutes between the first two entrees and the last two.
Don't waste your time going here- bad service and bad food= a waste of my night and my money.
