Eco-Friendly Disaster!
My wife and I stayed here on our way up from CA to WA. We booked a nicer room to accommodate ourselves, our baby, our dog, and everything that goes along with us. When we got to our room, it was left just as it was when the last people (presumably a group of frat boys by how trashed it was) checked out. Beer bottles, bedding strewn on the floor, dirty towels everywhere, cigarette butts on a plate on the nightstand. No big deal though. I call the front desk, haul all of our crap downstairs, drive all the way around to the front to get a set of new keys, haul all our stuff upstairs again to our new room, and start settling in. Five minutes in, my wife calls for me from the bathroom. In her attempt to find some soap or lotion, which by the way were not there, she finds the remnants of a joint (yes, a marijuana cigarette) in our water glass with the little paper cap on top. So, did they really clean this room either? We call the front desk again, and the "Head of Customer Relations" says she'll be right over with a camera to document the issue. She shows up with an employee and his cel phone camera. Personally, I think it was their stash all along and they just came to reclaim it. So do we get any sort of compensation at this point? A free appetizer at the restaurant? A discounted rate? No. She says: "If anything else comes up, just let me know". Wow. Thanks. If I find a half a kilo of cocaine under the bed, I'll be sure and call you. We leave the next morning for the rest of our trip. On our return, my wife and I, always eager for abuse, decide to give Gaia another shot. We book a smaller room on the lower floor, arrive to a clean room (we think), and settle in for a quiet night. I head over to the bar for a beer and to pick up some food to bring back to the room. I get back, and half way through what was a pretty damn good burger, I feel something sharp and hard in my mouth. It's a shattered shard of plastic about the size of a dime. At this point, I finally officially lose it and call the front desk and really let the girl have it. She transfers my call to the restaurant, and I let the poor waiter on the other end of the phone have it pretty good too. So, the solution? A free nights stay? A bottle of their best champaign? No. Their solution is to send over another burger. The bottom line is this...eco friendly or not, without good, well trained staff who understand customer service, customers are going to go elsewhere. If I could give a rating lower than a single star, believe me, I would.
