I went to the ER last night and was ready to feel dumb, to be told that I was imagining things, and to be discounted. Instead, I was met with professionalism, kindness, gentle humor, and with dignity. I was afraid and alone and having health issues that I had cause to believe could be life threatening. I left, tired but feeling better because the fear of heart attack or embolism or any of the quick painful ways that people die without being able to get to help in time, had at least for the moment been ruled out. Dr. Nattkemper was warm, concerned and did everything that could be done to find what was causing my health issues in the span of time he had to work. There are good doctors who work to save lives, comfort those in their care, and for the moments that they share the fears of their patients relieve those fears in a warm and very valid way. Dr. Nattkemper exemplifies those qualities. To Dr. Nattkemper I say,"Thank you from the bottom of my (healthy) heart for the kindness you demonstrated in my treatment. You have done much to remediate not just my faith in doctors, but in the practice of medicine. Thank you again."
