**I am in surgical menopause (for 3 years) and I was worried after the post mentioned dry eyes, etc. Please read my outcome if this is your concern** They are corneal specialists/experts....so please consider that when making your decision...on to my review...
Corneal Associates is, for LASIK, AS good as it GETS! Just had LASIK this morning by Dr. Gelender. It was amazing. Very thorough assessment, explanation of risks and what to expect pre and post op, and narrative through entire procedure. The nurse even held my hand through it and told me how good I was doing. They kept me calm throughout. It was easy, quick, and painless. Afterward, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND take some ibuprofen for when the drops wear off and definitely sleep the first 4-6 hours so you can bypass the majority of discomfort. Then, it's all amazing. You can see and it feels like a miracle. I am still in awe! My own optometrist referred me here because it is the only place he will go for LASIK. =) Remember, RISK/BENEFIT analysis are key. I have had no negatives, but those who did would have had those same problems anywhere and they were given all the risks before choosing to proceed. Good luck and pick Cornea Associates of Texas. (No, I don't work there...I just am an incredibly satisfied customer after only 14 hours!)
**Thank you to Dr. Gelender, Karie, and all the amazing staff. Every single one of you were the best in customer service and the oppositve of "drive thru" LASIK.**
Worst mistake of my life getting lasik surgery. I'm nearly blind now and it's been over 6 years since I had the surgery. Dr. Gelender performed the surgery and he should have known I had dry eyes to begin with. My life changed drastically for the worse since this surgery. I beg people to think twice about doing the surgery. More questions should have been asked of me. Right before the surgery, Dr. Gelender asked me if I had any diseases he should know about. I said, "Did menopause count as a disease?" He said, "no." When in fact, that should have been something he examined closer. Menopause causes dry eyes!
I empathize with this reviewer. However, on the flip side I am in complete physical menopause as of three years ago. Dr. Gelender performed my LASIK this morning and my eyes are less dry and vision is noticeably better than with contacts or glasses already! I am in awe and so grateful...everyone at Cornea has been nothing short of amazing! I was nervous because of this review but now I am so grateful I chose them! These types of negative results are very rare and I was well informed of the risks ahead of time, so it is truly our own responsibility to choose the right specialist. There are none better than Cornea Eye Associates! I feel like I have HD vision now! Better than ever in my life and no dry eyes. Feel free to contact me with questions. I am happy to answer. And no, I don't work there or know anyone who works there. I was referred by my optometrist because they are the only ones he would personally use. I drove from McKinney just to have the best. : )
I had catarat surgery in both eyes (one mnonth apart) at Cornea Associates about two years ago and Dr. Gelender was my surgeron. You can not find better surgeon than him. I was impressed from the first visit with his care and professionalism and that of his staff. Both surgeries were a complete success !
Congratulations Dr. Gelender. I have recomended you to all my friends who have catarats or might have catarats.
