The station is licensed to Battle Creek, Mich. and is owned by ION Media Networks. ION Media Networks, is a broadcasting company which owns and operates one of the largest broadcast television station group in the United States, as measured by the number of television households ION s stations serve. The company owns and/or operates over 60 full-power broadcast television stations, including stations in each of the top 20 U.S. markets and more than 39 of the top 50 markets. WZPX-TV went on the air on October 1996 under the call letters of WJUE, carrying infomercials. Within a short period of time the station changed call letters to WILV.
