Classical music has as much currency for most students as classic literature. That is not to say that we don't want them to enjoy such works; we recognize these are destinations for where we want to help students arrive. By keeping students enjoying their lessons all throughout the journey, today's pop music can lead naturally into Mozart, Beethoven, or Satie. Students at Treblemakers are always encouraged to participate in their lesson planning so that they feel empowered in the learning process. From the very first lesson we instill the understanding that music literacy is an important part of learning music, but we want to make sure it's engaging as well, so we use online and offline sight-reading tools that feel like games to our students while building and growing the skills that will help them develop a solid musical foundation.
