My wife and I stopped by the other week, we just moved to VA from SC and often get out of work late and are too tired to cook, especially quality bbq (something that requires a great deal of time and attention).
I ordered the ribs and my wife got a burger. Our server seemed to care less about being there and didn't pretend to fake it. He was on his phone often and had tatoos, not that any of that bothers me if you're a good server. Our food came out relatively quickly, a staple of most bbq and mexican joints. My wife enjoyed her burger and so did I. It wasn't the best in town by a long shot, but it was a burger... and its hard to go wrong with. I may be a bit biased, because I was pleasantly surprised by Tenderjack's burgers earlier in the week.
My ribs were tender, and seeing the amount of fat and bone compared to the meat figured they would be. Not a ton of meat on these bad boys, and the fat made getting to the meat more work than its worth. I don't know if they go to a local butcher but the cut just seemed off to be making ribs from. Definitely better than BK like stated in earlier reviews (no comparison what-so-ever!). The sauce was great, but the ribs themselves were poor.
The sides were exactly as you would expect. Nothing here was stand out, but none of it was terrible as previously stated. I guess mediocre would be a safe word.
I thought it was interesting that the decor was mentioned. It's seemly simple, as a bbq joint should be, until you take a closer look. I especially loved famous jazz musicians next to the likes of famous nba players... odd, and I can't say I'm a huge fan.
All in all, its a family bbq joint, which means with time and attention your family could probably recreate most of the menu. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out as being exceptional. My wife and I LOVE bbq and had high hopes. We may venture back here, but unfortunately we are still on the search for that perfect bbq spot. We've heard good things about a little one man stand east of Leesburg so that may be my next review.
GO! GO! GO! This is by far the best BBQ anywhere around. I am someone who thinks of ribs as a food group. We have tried ALOT of BBQ places. If you like truly deep smoked meat that is tender and flavorful please give this place a try. If you are the type that likes generic unsmoked ribs saturated in sauce stick with your Ruby's, Red Hot and Blue and most other places. My husband stopped in on his way home from work. We got the Beef Ribs and Chicken w/ sauce on the side, baked beans, fried okra and cornbread. The Ribs and Chicken were very flavorful and tender. Beans were just like my family used to make growing up in Texas. Slightly sweet and crunchy onion chopped up in it. Okra was awesome as was the sweet moist cornbread. Before now I would have said Mr. B's BBQ in White Post, Big Daddy's BBQ in Stephens City and The Country Store in Winchester have the best BBQ in Virginia and the vicinity. (The Pit in Raleigh NC, Rudy's in Waco TX and Shady Oak & Risky's in Fort Worth if you get the chance) Moley Brothers ranks right up there with some of the best BBQ around...especially the east coast.
Better ribs at Fridays or burger king? you got to be kidding. I tried their burgers, ribs and brisket. all excellent. food came quickly, yes the order takers are new and not fast, but do you expect them to be?, The ribs i ordered were the original sauce and they fell off the bones temder. My wife loved the burgers and she is more picky then I, Finally Leesburg gets a down to earth good BBQ place. Prices are fair. I agree the decor leaves something to be desired, but I am not their to live, just eat good BBQ. Well done Moley. The nay sayers stick to your Fridays and Burger King, that way you will not be in my way. going their for football food today.
