Yahoo! Neighbors Community Guidelines
The Yahoo! Neighbors community is about sharing information,
discussing local issues, and connecting with people in your neighborhood.
It is a place for Yahoo! users to post ideas and make recommendations.
The following guidelines (and the
Terms of Service) are
intended to make Yahoo! Neighbors a more enjoyable and informative
experience for everyone.
What to do:
-
Share what you know. Chances are someone will benefit from your local
knowledge, opinions, or personal experiences. Sharing what you know is
a great way to make a positive impact on your local community.
-
Keep it local. Make sure your discussion is relevant to people who
live in or visit your area.
-
Be polite. Remember we are a diverse community and people can have
many different opinions. Show respect to others and make this community
a better place for all users.
-
Be a good citizen. When you see a great comment, question, or response
give it a thumbs-up or better yet, add your own comment to the
discussion. If you see abuse, report it. We are committed to preventing
abuse on Yahoo! Neighbors and with your help, we can make a
difference.
-
Add links to your post. We encourage users to include links when
answering questions, making recommendations, or sharing information.
This allows people to go directly to the local resources or business
listings that are being discussed.
-
Categorize your topic. Be sure to choose the right category for
your topic so it can get the most accurate, useful information from people
in your neighborhood.
What not to do:
-
Do not use Yahoo! Neighbors for advertising purposes or to make
unsolicited commercial posts.
-
Do not harass, abuse, threaten, or advocate violence against other
individuals.
-
Do not post content that is harmful to minors.
-
Do not post content that is obscene, objectionable, or in violation of
federal or state law.
-
Do not go off topic. Comments should be relevant to the discussion at
hand (your neighbors will thank you).
-
Do not post content that infringes on the intellectual property, privacy,
or other rights of third parties.
-
Do not post content that belongs to another user without that user's
permission.
If you think your content might be inconsistent with these policies, please
refrain from posting it in Yahoo! Neighbors or elsewhere on Yahoo!.
