Wondering what the TV options (satellite or cable) are for someone new to the area? Has anyone tried to switch providers recently?

Charter is the cable provider. I personally use DirecTV because of the Football and they have the most HD channels.

Depending where you live you probably have AT&T or Verizon. AT&T offers the U-verse which is the fastest internet in the area (that I know of) and they offer TV service.

I recently got a special for Charter Internet switched from Verizon, I liked verizon service better but I like Charters speed and price...

charter sucks and they charge you for evry little thing. come on 5 dollars a month for a modem, that never goes away even after it has been paid for six times over, 15 dollars a month for a DVR box that they will not wrap into a 24 month contract. Oh! if you don't want or need their telephone service and just want cable and internet you will be paying more by 50 bucks.

I have ATT/SBC for my computer and phone- No problems/Good Service. We had TDS and were asking for DSL and they said we were not "close enough to one of their boxes" and would have to stay with dial-up. Yes we live IN the city of Madison. So we changed. Ironically when ATT came to hook us up I asked about the lines, and they said we were actually on the TDS lines because they didn't have any ATT lines here at that time. They do now, but I thought it was funny at the time. We never had any problems with ATT "being so far" from the box either!

We are getting ready to dump Charter- they will nickel and dime you for absolutely everything and god forbid you try and reach them for customer service. It is best to have a speaker phone if you do, because you'll want your hands free to do other things while on hold. Charter has combo packages too- probably close for price, but if going for just cable you will pay- we have no premium services, just expanded basic cable for about 80.00 a month. I was going to negotiate down- I have heard others have some success- but decided to just stay with our computer/phone service and add U-verse- all for $99 a month. Less if we decided to drop our land line- which you can now do with ATT DSL.

Good Luck!

AT&T "U-Verse" representative, Andy Johnson. Call Me at 608 334-0109. I will check for "U-Verse " availability, then if you're good to go, call you back and set up an appoinment to explain to you all availible features, and packages. I'm able to tailor, TV packages, High Speed internet (upto 24 MBps download, 3 MBps upload) and also Digital Telephone Service, And I'm able to wave installation fee of 150 dollars, as well as grandfather in your Total Home DVR, (Record 4 at once, playback 4), no fee for life of service.
