I‘ve recently gotten my learners permit and haven’t a clue about physically driving a vehicle. I am looking for an affordable adult driving school and have been unsuccessful in finding one locally on the internet. I need a recommendation for a good school with great instructors that can teach a 27 year old nervous wreck how to drive, thanks
Thank you so much, I called around to so many different driving schools and they all said the same thing, plus the prices or ridiculous. So, most of my family offered to help. I’m really not sure if that’s such a good idea considering I’ve heard you’ll end up driving like the person that teaches you. Which means, I’ll end up with road rage like my husband, texting and driving like my cousin, drinking and driving like my uncle, and driving 20mph on the freeway while rubbernecking like my grandma(please don't tell her I said that). See how important it is to me to be taught by a true licensed professional? I’ll check this one out asap. Thanks again!!

Check it. This is an excellent school. They have classes for adults also. Good luck :)
I've recently found a really good adult driving school called E C Driving. I've been to a couple of lessons and the instructor is really good, I guess there is hope for me yet. Thanks for all the help... I hope this school can help others in my situation. Here is the website address: www.ecdriving.com
8/3/09 7:21 PM - Dallas, TX 75216 Report thisThey're about 50 dollars an hour for just driving lessons. I'm not really sure about other pricings, being that I was just strictly interested in learning to drive. I studied the book, went to the DMV and took the written part of the test and got my learners permit first to save money.

And this is the one in Carrollton I was talking about that has changed names: http://rightstartdrivingschool.com/start/index.php
...couldn't find any pricing on things, but probably "adult driving instruction" they're gonna charge you more because they can. If you're an adult you have a J.O.B. and can pay $50 / hr. If you're a parent paying for your teenager you're looking to minimize costs and no way are going to pay that much.
Point is, if you can sit in with the teenagers during a standard "drivers ed" class, you get 32 hrs of classes and 7 hrs of driving (plus 7 hrs of observation, watching other people drive). At $50 / hr for just the driving, that'd cost you $350, but I'm pretty sure you can get the whole classes for less than that.
Keep working at it ... you'd have to get your instructional permit anyway if you're going to sign up for a driving class... it'll be worth it once you get confident behind the wheel.

I was looking for just the driving part cause im 20 and I had my learners permit for a year now. I was looking for a better pricing for adults but I guess all of them are fairly high priced. I drove a couple of months ago from a adult driving school called "DALLAS ADULT DRIVING SCHOOL, INC" and they charge $40 for one hour and for two hours its $80 and you have to show them your instruction permit and the money before you drive. Also, they do pick-up and drop off.http://dallasadultdrivingschoolinc.com/

8/12/09 10:37 PM - Dallas, TX 75216 Report thisI'm 59 years old lives in Irving,TX. I had a learners permit 4 years ago,my husband let me drive on open highway sometimes but I get so scared and it scared him too. I need to learn road driving to work on my self confidence, and I've got to DRIVE,my husband have medical problems.
8/26/09 10:31 PM Report thisIt took everything in side of me to even consider it. I lack the confidence in myself and I was devastated when my husband told me it’s time to learn. It’s funny that the one thing he thought was so cute when we met, he hates now and is totally dramatic about it (men!). Your husband needing you to drive could be a great motivator to push you. I think with time you’ll gain the confidence you’ve lacked for so long. Good Luck, us non-drivers have to stick together lol!!!

My wife went to one in carrollton near Josey + Jackson / Keller Springs. It wasn't for adults (had a bunch of teenagers in there) but they do the whole classroom + books + tests + practical but they did accept adults which a lot of the classroom types won't normally accept.

...apart from that there are a lot of places that will just sit in the car with you while you drive around. Usually that's the way that adult drivers education is done, but there's a lot of value going over the books + movies + etc. because they teach you in the classroom before you go out on the road so you know more what's going on, what to expect.
