HI Beth, I am involved with an agency in Michigan, so what you should do is get in touch with your Mental Health in you state and they should inform you and your husband what to do. I know here in Michigan we have now Certified Peer Support Specialist here that help people to find groups, we also have clubhouses where there are people with all kinds of Mental illnesses there bi-polar, major depressions etc... That is what I would advise you to do and not only him you need a group for yourself and both of you do group together with a social worker, they really have given me a new lease on life as for as handleing my mental illness and support,
My Grandfather is only well when he is on medication and stabilized, when he relapses he goes into a teatment facility.Relapse I meen by stopping his medications or drinking which enhances the chemcal inbalance allreday present. My mother alows him to live with her so she can moniter him.If you would like I could get numbers of his doctor,he also has a case worker that helps assist with family issues or insurance coverage. There is a great mental reatment center on bascom across from Valley Med.Hospital also.
Gardner Health Center-(408)998-2264-THIS IS WHERE MY GRANFATHER GOES THEY ARE PRETTY AWESOME.
