Who makes the best sandwich in North Beach? I really love the Italian Combos at Freddie's (Francisco/Stockton) and Molinari's (Columbus/Vallejo), I'm not sure which one is better. The meatball sandwiches at La Spiaggia by Washington Square are awesome.
I also like Mario's Bohemian Cigar Shop for eggplant sandwiches.
Freddie's! my parents (now 70years old) went to grade school across the street from Freddie's. They use to go to Freddie's after school. Sometimes the owner would give them free sandwiches. Very nice owners and still the same owners +60 years later.
My parents use to take me to Freddie's when I was a kid. I still love it. When I'm in the neighborhood, Freddie's always comes to mind.
Freddie's baby! Voted best italian sub in all of north beach. Giordano's and Mario's are also GREAT calls. Gotta show love to Buster's Cheesesteaks too
Absolutely Giordano Brothers!
Mario's Bohemian Cigar Shop is also my favorite place. Its not soooo much the food, its more the atmosphere in this unique spot.
Man, I miss Freddie's...don't live in NB any more. It seems like people love Molinari's, but I always just felt like Freddie's has fresher ingredients.
My vote is Molinari's, if you can handle the attitude.
Mario's Bohemian Cigar Shop is one of my favorites. The focaccia sandwiches are great and the atmosphere is genuine North Beach.
