There is no grocery store close. It's a huge area, and to go to a store you have to go to Natomas, or far down Arden, or downtown. The only other option is to go to the Costco close to Cal Expo which isn't ideal for just getting a few things. The neighborhood is bad over here, and it would be nice to have a well maintained store because there are new housing developments going in, and we want somewhere comfortable to shop. Please put in a grocery store close.. Rio Linda blvd is full of empty buisness space.
thanks good idea
What about over in North Highlands? Over by Winco. Are there some grocery stores there?
The grocery stores are very few and far between in sacramento. I saw another thread about the same thing. It is probably due to supply and demand. We have reached a point where the neighborhoods are getting old and people are migrating to (what I call) extreme sububia. Elk Grove, Roseville, Folsom, Vacaville and such.
I love the old neighborhoods.
i think you are absolutely right . i was just thinking the other day as i needed some items from the grocery store , that i have to travel so far to find a grocery .
there is one its only like less than 5 mile range.
Its on the corner or of hurley way & morse avenue called Price Cutter Market, nice , clean , good customer service.
And you can request your special items they get them for you.
The address is
3033 hurley way
sac,ca 95864
From arden go towards watt avenue,
before watt ave. make right on morse ,
its on the right handside just couple of blocks down.
Why don't some local people who have funds of $5,000 or more each get together and start a comglomerate of individuals and purchase a franchise like Winco together for that area. It would allow the community what it needs and afford new jobs for the area of about 200-300 individuals. If you coul gather about $50,000 or more a grup of citizens having the same interest could create a corporation, have its board of directors, and open up the large store your area needs. Jus a thought!
Sacramento is one of the few larger cities ive seen with no supermarket in the downtown business area. When I first came here I expected to see at least one near J and 4th or 16th and L streets, besides the now closed Albertsons that sat on F and 22nd for many years. Or does everyone in that area prefer only Safeway?

Seems like a very reasonable and thoughtful idea. Certainly the owners of the new housing developments would be in favor of it and should help push for it. Perhaps gathering some votes from your neighbors here and showing the results to the developers will spur them into action?
