Hello Nina. I'm sorry this has happened to you. I would call the police - if you have paid your money/fees and they are still reposessing your vehicle. Problem I think I hear you saying is that they addd (or his) a bunch of fees that then made it difficult if not impossible to pay - and so, they now have the right (acording to a contract you signed with them - to repo your car).

I agree with you - that this country is FULL of corruption and hidden fees to everything (it's worse right now that usual - in parts of the country that are harder hit by the bad/corrupt economics) But we are all also becoming more AWARE of the corruption that has been going on for a long time without our full knowledge. It's going to take ALL of us standing up to what is wrong - and exploitative (sp?) - of those who arenot wealthy - to start taking back our power and demanding - with our votes, our complaints to public agencies, picketing, unionizing, and how and where we spend our dollars (with "economic voting" - spending money on products and companies that DO do business in an honest up-front way, etc.

I've just moved here a few months ago from Seattle and there is a MUCH stronger voice-of-the-people up there and holding government(s) and businesses and leaders accountable - but really, the problem is everywhere. Here in LV - I've been astounded by the curruption - from big business gredd - to small businesses who are trying to suurvive - by taking advantage of the next lower rung on the economic ladder and WE ALL SUFFER FOR IT.

I hope you will just be careful and take care of yourself as much as possible, be VERY wise and careful to READ EVERYTHING - all the way down to the very bottom of the webpages of purchases AND IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING - DO NOT SIGN IT until you do - and DO NOT let anyone tell you anything is true in a transaction - IF IT IS NOT IN WRITING.

And by all means - you might really appreciate the new Michael Morre movie - it's all about how these big companies are exploiting us and we need to stand up and demand congress and lawmakers to make - and ENFORCE - laws to protect us. It is a movie that is at once infuriating and validating at the same time.

Anyway. Just want you to know you are not alone. I'm VERY frustrated as well. And I want to see people come together and start more momentum in cleaning out these many laws and ways the wealthy protect theirwealth - at OUR expense. Some people call it smart. I call it plain old greed, injustice, bigotry/racism and classism.

It's GOT to stop and we CAN make a difference. Hang in there, find others who are frustrated and start a planning group to take a small chunk and take ACTION.

God help us all - get this train back on the right track - a track we can all find pride and hope in.

It's greed, miguided ingenuity, lack of creativity - and compassion, and EXCESS that has run this ship amuk.

I've just moved here a few months ago from Seattle and there is a MUCH stronger voice-of-the-people up there and holding government(s) and businesses and leaders accountable (and there is tremendous wealth up there - but much more equitable than down here - but really, the problem is everywhere. Here in LV - I've been astounded by the curruption - from big business greed - to small businesses who are trying to survive - by taking advantage of the next lower rung on the economic ladder and WE ALL SUFFER FOR IT.

Get real - 10/20/09 2:19 PM Report this

Come on Nina. Fess up. How many months behind are you? That car is not yours is it? Who agreed and signed the terms, (To include non-payment issues). I find it hard to believe that anyone who purchases a auto does not realize that auto can be re-poed for non payment. There's TV programs showing just that. I have had a car re-poed also. It's not the banks fault or the re-po companies fault that I didn't keep my word. Just like many others I overspent when times were good, and de-faulted when times were bad. The american way is having the self-determination to succeed or fail on your own merits. Zorro I have a solution to your obsession with corruption and the status quo. It is one I learned as a Marine. If you want to change the status quo as a Private, put yourself in a position of authority as a Corporal, Sargeant, etc.. . Then initiate well thougth-out changes. But here is the kicker, once you have those responsibilities you realize the realities and reason of the status quo.
Corruption is a different matter, its a personnal trait, it starts with one person and infects down the line. One person can break that line. Michael Moore is the last person I consider a qualified judge of any topic. Is his intergrity above reproach? Has he lied (A form of corruption), cheated his co-wokers (A form of corruption), mis-construed facts for his own personnal gain (Sound corupt to me). I can go on and on with Mr. Moore. but why waste time. I is unfair to Nina that you intellectually dupe her in to believing a belief that she was not responible for her actions or lack of ! If your philosophy keep it to yourself so others can begin to think critically on their own and not the thinking of whoever supplies the best excuses for failure.
Sorry Nina that you learned a hard lesson. There are many good honest people in this country. But honest people also have to protect themselves in the most hard-hearted way or they lose everything they have worked for. And yes that means that companies have to draw a line somewhere.

Clearly, Mr "Get Real", you did not thoughtfully read my reply and simply gave a knee jerk reaction to stereotypes you thought you saw - both of Nina's entry and my own. You do not know Nina - nor do I. You clearly just assumed she made the same mistake you did! May be she did - may be she didn't. Not for you to say or act like such a first rate snob about the whole thing! Neither - clearly - do you know anything about me, or who or what I am. But you clearly are some sort of "authority" (in your own mind) to put us all in our place - according to you. You are only a single one-vote person like the rest of us. So. I have the power to "dup" Nina - and to say what I want - but "dupe her into what may I ask? You give her no credit - and clearly you're not even the "shining example" of what you judge her for without even knowing the details of her situation. And if you would have read - really read what I actually said to her - while offering compassion for her difficulty - since I do not know her and therefore do not assume she is knowingly shirking her responsibilities (and even if she was and is finally having to deal with the ramifications, you - of all people, should know how [profane]ty she might be feeling - but I guess you are just so much better than she is), I offered plenty of thoughts about taking responsibility - in light of all the ways many businesses try to "dupe" the consumer. There are unscrupulous businesses and people - many of them. You must be being dupped yourself if you are not yet aware of this and how rapant it is. I could give you exact examples of over and over again - people who lie and cheat and "dupe" the "many good honest people" who are in this country". But if you turn a blind eye to corruption and pretend it is not as huge as it is here (really? So Madoff making off with over $50 billion dollars, is not a problem for you and your philosophy?) And really? Did I ever say one thing about whether I believe Michael Moore is personally "above reproach" (biblical language - so that says a whole bunch about you're own in/ability to be objective or inability to question what you deem as authority - if we're going the route of stereotypes here!). No. I said nothing about how I think or feel about him at all - because I do not know him - and neither do you. And if you are so righteous in your movie watching, do you measure each of the directors and writers of the movies you watch, by your personal standard that they need to be personally "above reproach" before being able to make a movie (there’d be no movies to watch!)? And are you above personal reproach, Mr "Get Real"? - careful now - you're not answering to me - but to your god. Judgment is so easy to come by isn't it? - even as a marine you can have it sneak up on you and bite you in the butt!! And is that now the new standard of whether or not someone can ask and reveal a certain amount of very very disturbing questions about corruption in this country? If so, we'd never hear anything about it at all - as none of us is "above reproach". Think "critically"? Really? Is that what you are revealing of your "critical thinking" skills in your reply? Do you have personal direct knowledge of Michael Moore's cheating and lying? Couldn't possibly. So your authority and "critical thinking" is actually based on here-say (heresy) and second hand (at least!) rumors. Even if true - it does not mean that his movies are all lies and have no merit. I never once defended him - as I don't know him. But his movies are probably along the lines of the closest we will ever get to hear of at least some of the things going on that we never hear about in mainstream media. Do I agree with his theatrics? Unfortunately, people misjudge the use of his mediocre entertaining theatrics - which he most likely does in order to be entertaining, because you have to be "entertaining" or people won't go see the movie(s) that are full of such hard realities to swallow, Mr Get Real. Seems to me, your "obsession" with his personal integrity and methods used in his industry to get peoples' attention, lacks the "critical thinking" you seem to be so fond of. Nevertheless, whether it was this method or something else, admit it - you just flat out wouldn't like him and try to discredit him regardless because you don't want to look at the fact that we have alot of cleaning up to do right here at home. And perhaps if we focused more on what was happening inside our borders, you may not have a job. Blind allegiance is the most deadly kind. Compassion - if you do attest to having any kind of faith or religious basis - is the cornerstone of any hope for this country and the world. And judgment is denounced by every major religion in the world - and most the smaller ones. I am not even religious anymore and I know this. "...log out of your own eye..." etc. So yes, by all means, please begin to think more compassionately, less judgmentally, and more critically. Duping yourself is actually the worst form of corruption. You deserve better.
