Spring Cleaning for San Jose

San Jose should have a spring cleaning program where we can clean out our junks every year to keep a cleaner community. Santa Clara has a program where there every year they have a community cleaning program where you would leave out your furniture and any old stuff you need to clean out for the year.

San Jose does have a similar program, Neighborhood Dumpster Days. The program is set-up so each neighborhood should have a clean-up evry other year. Contact your councilmember's office for more information, http://www.sanjoseca.gov/council.asp

It's great to have SJ city council presence here.
You can also order a Large Item Pick-up and your recycling company will collect up to 3 items (couch/sofa, large appliances, TVs, etc) for $25. It's $25, but you don't have to store your junk for a whole year to get rid of it...

The dumpster days are nice, but last time I tried it the dumpster was full about an hour after the event started. What's nice about Santa Clara is you just leave your stuff in front of your house and it disappears, no limit.
at the dumpster days in the burbank area, they've brought a second dumpster pretty fast -- if it fills up one year, contact waste mgmt & let them know for the next year

I agree that the Santa Clara model would be so much better.....a lot of their stuff "finds" new homes (one persons trash is anothers treasure...lol) the dumpster days are way too short as the dumpsters are filled very quickly and most people can't carry it two or three blocks to the dumpster....also Owners of rental properties have been known to bring trash from other properties from out of our area....they have the flyers from their local properties so the circumvent the flyer system also.
By the way when is our next scheduled dumpster day? (Buena Vista Neighborhood Assn. area)
Santa Clara City services are the best! The response time often less than a hour.

yes i agree..i used to live in santa clara, that clean up day was awesome..plus alot of stuff that people throw away doesn't end up where it should...lets start a petition....lol....later
