Does anyone have a recommendation for a kitchen knife sharpening service?
I use Perfect Edge Cutlery & Chefs' Supply at 1640 Palm Ave in San Mateo, and am very happy with their work. During most hours of the day, they'll sharpen while you wait.

Nob Hill offers to sharpen knives for free for their customers. Just took my knives back to the meat section hit the bell for service and the butcher took care of it.
There's a guy who comes to the Belmont Farmers' Market, maybe the same guy, and Belmont is year round. I think he's only there every other week so you might have to go twice to catch him but it's a good market so an extra visit wouldn't be a bad thing. It's in the CalTrain parking lot at Ralston and El Camino.

I also use Perfect Edge Cutlery and Chefs' Supply at 1640 Palm Ave in San Mateo. 650-349-2665. I had an entire set, dropped them off and picked up a few day later. I believe they now close on Saturdays.
I think there is someone who (at least sometime use to) knife sharpen at the San Mateo Farmer's Market. I don't remember if it was Wednesdays or Saturdays.

The ones at grocery stores seem to be super expensive.
There's a guy who sits out at the Menlo Park farmer's market (which I assume is off now but starts back up in the spring) who sharpens for a good price. We dropped our knives with him, picked up a few hours later, and were happy with the results.
