Restaurants near the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental

I'm not sure what kind of dining you like, but these places are all within five blocks and have provided me very nice dining experiences. Masa's would be at the bottom of my list, and Michael Mina is definitely the best of the three. Mina had this dish, something like "beef three ways," that was a wonderful tasting of filet, short rib, and brisket -- the flavors were incredibly concentrated. And, they have a wonderful caviar course, which makes my wife very happy.

On such short notice, they're probably booked, but you could give them a call to see if they happen to have openings. (Or the economy is affecting their reservations...)

For Cheap eating (and open late) try osha thai on gerry and levenworth. Yum.....
