On Q Dance Center is more about the $$ then they are about their lessons. I had 2 daughters that went their from Jan09-Jun09. The classes are overcrowded so your child will not get enough attention and coaching. You cant see what they are doing because they dont have a viewing window. I once checked on my daughter (20mins into) only to find they had'nt even started their practice, mind you the class was only a 45min class.
One of my daughters was in a Acro class & after 5mo's hadnt learned anything she did'nt already know (hand-stand, cartwheel, round-off). I put her in it to learn at least a back flip! I went to their "recital" where they did'nt want you to bring your video rec, because they wanted you to purchase their dvd for $10 & almost all their routines included the same tricks. And, almost all the classes for the younger children (elementary, on down) had to have a leader in the front bc they did'nt know their routine. I could see a helper for toddlers, but when your 5 on up, u should know most of your routine, especially when you have been going to the same class for over 5months! Remember my children went there for 5mo's, some of the other kids went for the whole year!
I dont think I am being unfair. I dont think the teachers are bad. I just feel it is overcrowded, so they cant teach as well. I will say that the school is good for parents who want to get their child into the competitive dancing. Those were the children that did the best. I imagine bc they spent more time & effort with them. It is also good for older kids Jr. High on up, seeing as they wouldnt need as much instruction then younger kids. Their dancing was also nice in the recital..
Overall if I had to rate the studio for instruction for children from 10 on down (just for the reg dance classes) I would give the school 3/10. For the older children, & competitive classes 6/10.
