Have a boat, drive a BMW? Then this overrpriced and crowded place is for you. If you actually like quality food then I would suggest somewhere else. The restaurant is usually packed beyond the fire code by people looking to get drunk on wine. To get to the tables one must walk by the bar (which has some amazing bartenders) that is usually 4 or 5 people deep. The journey should take about 15 minutes. When you are seated, your waiter/waitress must navigate through the mess of inebriated blue bloods to get your drinks. This slows down service to a molasses like halt. I have only had one dish at the Boatyard which I enjoyed, the other times I have found my food to be undercooked and generally lacking for the price tag.
If you happen to get be eating there when its not crowded it can be an amazing dinner granted that you order the correct things. The atmosphere really lowers my overall feelings for the restaurant.
It does have redeeming qualities in some dishes, but its really hit or miss. The bar and wait staff do try very hard to make your dinner pleasurable but crowded interior (due to pointless wooden stands and other fixtures) makes it feel like a sardine can at times.
