My husband did not want to quit smoking. He only went because his boss and I wanted him to stop. He agreed to go on the condition that he could smoke peacefully afterwards because he was not going to stop for anyone. So my disbelieving husband smoked the entire three and a half hour trip to the Doctors office. He was annoyed to be spending his day off doing this. I waited in the car for him. After fifteen minutes he came out and said he was going to sleep on the way home. I didn't ask anything. I observed him tho, and he smoked no cigatettes on the way home. In fact I wasn't certain until four days had passed and I heard him on the phone talking to a cigarette smoking brother of his, telling him that there were no withdrawl symptoms. He said that on a scale of one to ten he normally was a fourteen, now he was a one or two at best. He has since said that it doesn't bother him in the least if he sees others smoking or if they offer him a cigarette. That was in 2004 and until the day in Oct. 2008 when we divorced (and I saw him last) cigarettes were not a part of his life. Dr. Birch mentioned that she is hired by large corporations to preform accupuncture on their employees to abide by their non-smoking policies. This trip will be one of the most important of your life.
