I was looking for something fun to do with my family that wouldn't break the bank. I had been rafting a few times out east but the wife and kids had never been.

I called up Blue Sky and they recommended the Wenatchee River. Boy am I glad they did. We had such a great time. Our guide was really good with our kids... he even let them shout out commands to the rest of us in one of the smaller rapids. They loved it!

After the trip we relaxed in the big field of the park we ended the trip at. There were people flying kites. We happened to have a volleyball in our car so we took advantage of the courts right next to where we ate.

The food they served was really good. Before the trip we had crackers and cheese and chips and salsa. We snacked on this while we got geared up for our trip. They gave us everything we needed- booties, wetsuits, and life jackets. Tip- bring your bathing suit so you can wear it under the wetsuit.

After the trip, you end up a where you actually meet. So when we got off the river we could just walk to our car and change. A big plus compared to some of the other trips I've been on where you have to ride the shuttle afterward sweating all day in the wetsuits. Some people don't smell that great after a day in the sun!

After we got done getting all of the gear off, our steaks were ready. Boy were they good! They have a full on smoker set-up, they smoke the steaks while you're on the river and then bbq them when you are getting dressed back into dry clothes. The result is some of the most tender bbq'd steaks I have ever had!

This was an incredible experience and as far as bang for your buck goes it was definitely right up there. I don't know where you can spend under $100 per person and have such an exiting and fun-filled family day other than this.

It really was a bonding experience for my family and I to be able to conquer the mighty wenatchee!

Oh and by the way- don't forget to ask your guide how to become a full fledged member of the Wenatchee River Swim Team!
