I was leary about stopping at Smokey Bones with my friends after having a terrible experience at the one in Greenwood, IN. However, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and was hoping to get some good BBQ.
Unfortunately for us, the experience was about the same. We were seated on a Saturday night right at kickoff when Ohio was playing USC in football. Many of the servers spent quite a bit of time watching the game and ignoring the patrons. We were not the only ones that appeared upset at the service.
Our waitress was pretty much almost non-existant. She arrived to take our orders and pretty much disappeared until she brought our checks (some other servers brought our meals). She did stop by once right before our meals showed up to ask how we were doing, but as soon as one of my friends started to ask for a refill, she simply turned around and walked away.
Some of my friends got a great meal (ribs) and some didn't, including me. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, half of which was nothing but fat. Two of my friends actually had to get up and go to the bar to try and get a refill on their drink.
I'm sure that the football game had a lot to do with the type of servcie we received; however, I sincerely doubt that I'll ever try another Smokey Bones again.
