I recently visited Monticello. They have a "cafe" which sells over priced sandwiches and deserts. I recalled seeing Michie Tavern on the way up the mountain to Monticello and decided to try eating there. There I found a buffet, which at fiirst I thought was a bit pricey. The quality of the food made up for the price (and think it was better deal that what Monticello was selling). I bet old TJ himself would have preferred what Michie Tavern serves than what is being sold at his mountain top home. I later learned at Michie Tavern that James Monroe's home is also nearby. It seems Monticello does not mention anything but Monticello. The staff at Michie Tavern were extremely friendly. I wish they stayed open latter as I only had an hour to eat before they closed in mid afternoon.
