The Elgin Tap should be considered a state landmark. It is a typical small town tavern that exudes character from every pore. The bartenders are super friendly, the draft beer is only $1.25 for a frosty mug, and the drinks are only $2 to $2.75 depending on the brand of liquor. One of the bartender's mothers brings in fresh ham salad every day in a 5 pound tub for great sandwiches.

The crowd at the Elgin Tap includes town businessmen, local farmers, as well as the tourists passing through Elgin who browse in the antique stores and find Americana and Swiss artifacts.
